The Journey

Your journey can start at Geneva Bus Station (Geneva Gare Routiere) or at Geneva Airport which is one of the first stops on the route.

The line you need is the T17 line which goes to Thonon-Les-Baines, a small town on the banks of Lake Geneva. This journey takes about an hour.

At Thonon-Les-Baines you’ll have to change bus and catch the 91 bus to Morzine – Thonon to Morzine takes about 50 minutes.

Sadly, the two buses don’t often line up well so your wait time at Thonon-Les-Bains may vary.

The 91 bus will drop you off at Morzine bus station from where you can walk, catch an in-resort shuttle bus or organise a local taxi to your accommodation.

Once you’ve arrived at Thonon-Les-Baines bus station you’ll probably have to wait for your next bus but for how long will vary depending on what time you arrive. Your next bus is the 91 bus to Morzine/Les Gets. This journey will take you to Morzine first and then on to Les Gets. It should take around an hour.

Here’s the bad news – there isn’t a public bus that goes to Avoriaz.

But here’s the slightly better news – you can get a series of buses from Geneva to Morzine Bus station and then Morzine to the Prodains Telecabine before jumping on the telecabine to take you to Avoriaz.

It’s a bit of a faff, and you’ll probably just want to book a transfer instead, but here are the details.

The Journey

Take the bus from Geneva to Morzine as described above.

In Morzine, walk from the bus station to the Marie roundabout bus stop – it’s a 3-minute walk.

At the Marie, jump on the free A bus. In winter this runs every 15 minutes or so throughout the day.

The A bus will take you to the Prodains telecabine where you’ll need to get off, it’s the last stop before the bus turns around.

Then buy a single journey pedestrian pass on the telecabine to take you up to Avoriaz. Avoriaz is a car-free resort so from the top station of the telecabine you’ll have to walk to your accommodation.
