Types of Transfers & Our services

At PowderCab we offer two different types of transfers that suit all needs & all budgets: ‘shared‘ or ‘private‘ (please click on the boxes below for a detailed explanation).

PRIVATE SERVICES

You have the exclusive use of the minibus & our driver will leave immediately after all of your party have collected their bags etc.

Arriving at the airport (or train station or hotel): Your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall of the airport (with a sign with your name on) & you will be taken directly to your front door of your accommodation in resort.

Departing resort: We will send you a free SMS at 15:00 the day before your transfer to confirm your collection timeYour driver will collect your party only, the time will be based around your flight departure & will take you directly to the airport (or train station or hotel).

In either direction, we will work our schedule around your flight only and there will be no stopping enroute for other clients in other resorts/accommodations.

Our private transfers operate year round & are ideal if you’re travelling with young children, or if you’re on a short break & want to get in as much skiing time as possible, or you simply want a bit of luxury with only your party onboard.

If you are delayed on arrival, your driver will wait for you for up to an hour, where possible, before we will make alternate arrangements for you.

SHARED SERVICES

When booking a shared transfer, you may (or may not) be travelling with other clients on similar flight arrival or departure times.

Arrival at the airport: If you are sharing with other clients, then you may be ‘tied in’ with others who’s scheduled flight arrival time is up to 45 minutes before or after your flight. If sharing with others shared clients then we may have to drop other clients first if logistically their accommodation is before yours.

Your driver will be in arrivals with a sign with your name on (& possibly other names too) & we will wait at our rendez-vous point (given to you on your confirmation email) until all our shared clients have arrived & collected their luggage & then we will head to resort.

When departing from resort: If you are sharing with other clients, then you may be ‘tied in’ with others who’s scheduled flight departure time is up to 60 minutes before or after your flight. We may have to collect other clients first or enroute & we will aim for the earliest shared clients flight departure with the aim to get to the airport 2hours before the earliest flight.

If a shared clients flight is delayed then you may have to wait for them, or they may have to wait for you, & if we don’t have any other seats available (unless we can find a later service for the delayed clients). We will wait up to 40 minutes for delayed shared flights before we make alternate arrangements.  For your departure leg from resort, depending on yours & other clients flight time(s), & where you & others are staying in resort, it may mean that you are leaving earlier than our usual timings.

Our shared transfer service offers great value for money for those looking to travel on a budget which may require a little more flexibility, patience & understanding on your behalf.

What we DON’T do:

  • We won’t just drop you at the bus station leaving you stranded to drag your bags, your kids & your skis/snowboards in the snow to get to your accommodation at any time in the day or night. Our door to door services takes you directly to & from the front door of your accommodation*.
  • We won’t leave you stranded at the airport if you are delayed or your luggage gets lost. We will always find a way to get you to resort.
  • We won’t just cancel your booking just to suit ourselves. Once you are booked in your transfer is guaranteed & we will always work our hardest to ensure that you receive the greatest service possible.
  • We don’t charge you for luggage, ski carriage, booster or baby seats, there are no fuel surcharges & all taxes are included in our prices. Our honest pricing policy means that the price you are quoted is the price you pay & we don’t add anything extra when it comes to payment.
  • We never hide from any issues, such as flight delays or lost luggage & we won’t pretend that one of our buses has broken down ‘again’. We are always contactable 24/7 & there will always be an English-speaking member of staff on hand to help.
  • We won’t leave things too late so that you are stressed at the airport or worse, miss your flight. We always aim our schedule around getting you back to the airport 2 hours before your flight is due to depart. We have been operating transfers locally for over 10 years so we know where & when traffic builds up & what days & dates are particularly busy. We will take alternate routes & leave earlier to avoid traffic hotspots so that we meet you on time for your flight arrival & so that you are not late for your flight departure.
  • We won’t over work our staff or make them work silly hours or take advantage of them. We manage their hours carefully, pay them well for their hard work & always ensure they have enough time between services. Plus we give them plenty of time off to rest & enjoy the mountain to ensure that they are fresh & motivated for each service.
  • We won’t turn up in an old rusty dirty vehicle without snow tyres nor chains!! All of our vehicles are under 2.5 years old (most are brand new this season), they are fully equipped with snow tyres, snow chains & safety bars. Our drivers take pride in their vehicles & clean them daily & are thoroughly trained in how to fit snow chains correctly so that they can do it blindfolded. Our record in training for one snow chain is 26.5 seconds!!
  • Not just any old (or young!!) scruffy driver will turn up to drive you. Our team of professional drivers will turn up on time in their smart PowderCab uniform. They will either have a minimum of 2 years professional driving experience or have a driver qualification (either an advanced ROSPA chauffeur course or a PCV licence & DQC card). In resort, we put all of our drivers on an alpine safe driving course & as well as a classroom session, they have a one on one driving session with an ex-police pursuit driving instructor to further fine tune their alpine driving skills.
  • Our directors didn’t just set up to take your money!! PowderCab was set up through a love of outdoor activities & with the dream of living year round in the mountains & a way to fund it was needed. We set our prices as low as possible, which is difficult with French taxes to pay & the seasonal nature of our business. We live very modest lives, make the most of the mountain activities available & we don’t own a Ferrari 🙂

*If you are travelling to Avoriaz top station then we can only take you to the Avoriaz Welcome Centre/Entree or the Amara Reception Area. Avoriaz is a pedestrianised town so these are the only places to where we can take you. From here you either take a snow taxi, a horse & sleigh or walk (using the luggage sledges provided at the Avoriaz welcome centre).
